SUMMARY:Queen's Gambit
DESCRIPTION:Queen’s Gambit is a 3-Day HEMA Tournament in Charlotte-Metro Area. \nWe pride ourselves on providing a safe and inclusive environment for fencers of all backgrounds to compete to the best of their ability. We offer a swiss-pools format and guarantee fighters 9 fights in the open pools before the top people face off for the finals. \nWe offer sparring tournaments in Spear\, Sidesword\, Longsword\, and Dagger. Each tournament is separated by height into Rose (Under 5’10”) and Crown (5’10” and above) – this year if there is any space remaining in the Crown Division at the end of the registration period fencers from Rose Division who have asked to be moved to Crown will be added to Crown Division. Fencers may not fight in both divisions! \nThis year we will see the return of our Cutting tournaments! We will have Open Arming Sword (Sideswords and other one-handed weapons are acceptable)\, Open Longsword\, and our first-ever Tier-A Longsword for those with extensive cutting experience OR who have medaled in a cutting competition within the last two years. \nWe will be offering workshops and lectures Friday Night and Sunday Morning. Saturday night we will celebrate our HEMA community with a Masquerade Dinner complete with Renaissance dancing led by a professional dance master – no dance experience necessary!

DESCRIPTION:Join us in Charlotte\, NC for a 3 day event with 9 tournaments\, plus workshops\, lectures\, and a masquerade ball with renaissance dancing! We will have cutting tournaments with Longsword and Sidesword. Sparring tournaments with Longsword\, Sidesword\, Spear\, and Dagger. Our Longsword\, Sidesword and Dagger tournaments will be split into Rose Division (fighters under 5’9″ tall) and Crown Division (fighters 5’9″ and above). \nDaggers are allowed as a companion weapon in the Longsword tournament. \n“Sideswords” may be any form of single-handed sword with a blade length less than or equal to 38” (e.g.\, rapiers\, sabers\, messers\, and arming swords are all acceptable in addition to “true” sideswords). Daggers\, Cloaks\, Bucklers\, and Targas are allowed as companion weapons in the Sidesword tournamnet. \nLoaner sharps will be available for both cutting tournaments.
