The Assailants in Multiple Opponents Contest however must always use a Federschwert! \n– For the Krieg League Auxiliary Activity\, participants may choose TOGETHER\, at the beginning of each match\, to use any sort of weapon\, EXCEPT for projectile weapons\, pole weapons and Montante/Zweihander AND AS LONG AS THEIR OPPONENT AGREES TO FIGHTING WITH A MATCHED WEAPON (Sabre vs. Sabre\, LS vs LS\, Rapier vs Rapeir etc.). IF the 2 fencers in a match CAN NOT AGREE on what weapon to fight with\, the match defaults to a Longsword match \n– Female participants can sign up for both Women’s LS and Open LS for the same price of 55 EUR (Early Bird) or 65 EUR (normal price); if they also sign up for Open Sabre\, they will pay an extra 20/25 EUR for this Extra Main Activity that they added (depending on Early Bird or Normal Price)\, but for them we do not consider Open LS (or Women’s LS) as an Extra Main Activity that they need to pay for \n– Male participants can ONLY sign up for Open LS or Open Sabre\, as their Main Activities; regardless of price\, they can’t sign up for Women’s LS; they can\, of course choose an Extra Main Activity (Sabre or Open LS\, depending on what they first signed up for)\, which will cost 20/25 EUR extra (depending on Early Bird or Normal Price) \n>>> META-WIN Scenario – Ace of Blades and King/Queen of Blades:\nWe have a meta-win scenario!\nApart from winning a medal and a prize if you place on the 1st\, 2nd or 3rd place in any of the 6 activities (Open LS\, Women’s LS\, Open Sabre\, Flourish Display\, Multiple Opponents Contest and Krieg League)\, you can also win the Ace of Blades title + a special prize OR the King/Queen of Blades title + a special prize. \nTo become the King or Queen of Blades you must win a medal in 2 out of the 6 activities. \nTo become the Ace of Blades you must win a medal in 3 out of the 6 activities. \nIf it happens that more than 1 person meets the condition to be King/Queen of Blades or Ace of Blades\, the winner will be determined by comparing the value of their medals. \nSo\, for example\, if person X has won 3 medals (2 gold\, 1 silver) and person Y has also won 3 medals (1 gold\, 1 silver and 1 bronze)\, person X will become the Ace of Blades\, not person Y. \nPlease don’t hesitate to ask us if you have any questions. SUMMARY:HEMA Masterclass with Emilia Skirmuntt
DESCRIPTION:// We would like to introduce our first guest instructor for our HEMA Masterclass series – Dr. Emilia Skirmuntt!\nBIO Emilia has trained how to hit people with swords and other objects for more than 20 years. During that time she has studied multiple weapons\, systems\, and in multiple different clubs\, starting in Poland and then moving to London and Oxford. She has won medals in both women as well as open competitions both in the UK and abroad\, fighting with longsword\, rapier\, rapier and dagger\, saber\, sidesword\, and sidesword and buckler. She was also voted best technical fencer of By the Sword 2019. Emilia travelled around Europe leading workshops and seminars and was one of the representatives for the UK and Ireland HEMA team in the European Games in 2019. She is a member of the organising committees for the Wessex League\, and Albion Cup\, the biggest international competition in the UK. She also organised English Sidesword Open In Oxford in 2018. Currently she is the head instructor for the Oxford Chapter of The School of the Sword. She teaches Italian longsword\, dagger\, rapier\, sidesword\, unarmed\, and tomahawk techniques. \nFiore techniques – Evolution Fiore dei Liberi was a 14th-century knight\, diplomat\, and fencing master who authored one of the earliest known fencing manuals\, Flos Duellatorum (The Flower of Battle). In this manual\, he details techniques for all major “knightly weapons”\, including the longsword\, axe\, and dagger\, as well as unarmed combat. He also covers both armoured and unarmoured fighting. In this session\, we will explore the progression of techniques in The Flower of Battle\, beginning with fundamental grappling (abrazare)\, transitioning to dagger techniques (daga)\, and culminating in longsword applications. We will focus on key principles such as leverage\, control\, and adaptability\, incorporating disarms\, half-swording techniques\, and their practical applications in combat.
