DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 10th holding of the South East Renaissance Fencing Open!!!\nWe shall be opening registration for the event in the next week.\nAs in previous years\, we shall be at KSU Marietta Gym\, this year from June 7th-9th.\nHaving listened to the feedback from last year\, we have some changes and updates to the event.\n– Saturday shall be Longsword only. We will be doing the Tiers A\, B\, and C again this year.\n– We will only be doing First Blood Rapier and Conventional Rapier. Conventional Rapier shall be updated slightly to differentiate it more from First Blood and hopefully give fencers more fencing time.\n– We have already started Director training for SERFO 24 among those in the local clubs who have volunteered to help out. Our goal is to improve the quality\, clarity\, and conformity of the judging this year in response to issues we experienced in 2023.\n– We have also started planning on how to improve the bullpen\, provide updates to fencers during the event\, etc.\n– The rules book shall be updated and reformatted to make it easier to read through and understand\n– There will be new medals.\n– Etc.\nThe Tournaments being held this year are:\nUnder Represent Genders Longsword – 32 (Soft upper limit)\nSabre – 32 (This is a semi-invitational where we shall pick from those interested. We shall give you plenty of notice of who is accepted)\nOpen Longsword – 128 (Hard limit. There will be a waitlist)\nTier A – 36 fencers\nTier B – 44 fencers\nTier C – 48 fencers\nFirst Blood Rapier – 52 (Hard limit. There will be a waitlist)\nConventional Rapier – 60 (Hard limit. There will be a waitlist)\nSword and Buckler – 56 (Hard limit. There will be a waitlist)\nFor those who do not know\, the KSU Marietta campus is located in a great spot with many restaurants only a few minutes drive north on the same road as the entrance. Plus\, Marietta downtown is less than a 10 minute drive away. There are plenty of hotels and AirBnBs within a close driving distance of the venue.\nDue to inflation and added costs from the venue and insurance\, we have to slightly raise the cost of the event for this year.\nCost for Event:\n– Weekend Early Registration – as always\, registration costs for SERFO includes registration into as many tournaments as you wish to compete in (until May 25th) – $100\n– Weekend Registration after this day\, as well as at the door (from May 26 to event date) – $120\n– Single Day Registration – $75\n– T-Shirt – $20\nWe look forward to seeing you at SERFO 24 to celebrate our 10th anniversary in holding the event. DESCRIPTION:A year has passed since we made fencers wet and hot inside of castle walls.\nSo it is time to announce Steel & Chill 2024. With Istria conquered we are moving east.\nWe can not promise neither rain nor sun\, but a weekend with lots of HEMA fun.\nIn Daruvar at count Janković castle\, in four categories you will battle. \nCategories. (participants)\n1. Longsword open (24)\n2. Sidesword (24)\n3. Sword & Buckler (24)\n4. Longsword women (12) \nMain category: 40 €\nLS Women 20 €\nSecondary category: 20 € \nAfterparty TBA \nWe have reserved accommodation for participants in a spa with a thermal pool 3 minutes from the castle. Prices have yet to be determined but will be announced before registrations. \nThe tournament will take place over two days\, with sidesword\, sword and buckler being on the first day\, while longsword will be on the second day.\nYou will be allowed to participate in more categories if there is space in other categories.\nPriority goes to fencers who selected the category in question as their primary category.\nRuleset and applications will be released soon. (ruleset is same as last years with minor changes)\nKeep in mind that it is safe to assume that the tournament will have tourists and visitors that will watch the matches.\nAlso\, since it’s an outside tournament we will be exposed to the elements. Rain is highly unlikely(this time we hope)\, but heat is probable.\nWe will make sure to be in the shade when possible and have lots of water on site. More details will follow. \nP.S. it is closer for everyone. 1.5h drive from Zagreb to the east of Croatia.

DESCRIPTION:This will be a single day historical fencing event focused on a longsword tournament with a separate sparring area open to various weapons outside of the tournament itself. Our local scene features plenty of folks using rapier\, smallsword\, saber\, sidesword\, dussack and dagger.\nThe longsword tournament will be open to all genders and rating levels\, with 10 people groups\, everyone judging each other during the group phase\, followed by eliminations.\nFencer judging pairs will be formed once full registration is done and paired up based on combined experience.\nPrizes will be announced in the following months.\nIf you’ve ever been to Swordplay\, Intermezzo\, Megdan\, Steel&Chill\, Sofia CrossSwords\, TeutonFecht and similar events you may recognize a similar atmosphere and even some people\, try and catch all the intentional and unintentional similarities.\nThe intent of the event is to have as many people enjoy as much great fencing as possible during a single day while also helping people get judging experience and giving various international fencers a chance to connect.\nWe look forward to having you at our event.\nFeel free to check our website and facebook event for further information\nhttps://www.hema-washfechten.com/\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1576528809571825?active_tab=about

DESCRIPTION:Eine bunte Palette unterschiedlicher Beschäftigungsmöglichkeiten zum Thema Schwert wird geboten: Von Präsentationen aus alten über 600 Jahre alten Fechtbüchern\, aber auch der Vorstellung einer modernen Sportart (HEMA)\, die das Schwert als Sportgerät nutzt\, hin zur Betrachtung eines Originalfund im Museum der Burg. Eines ist für uns klar: Zumindest einmal im Leben sollte man ein Schwert in der Hand gehabt haben. \nKomm vorbei und fechte mit uns\, den Teilnehmer*innen der Fechtwoche. Die Burg bietet eine wundervolle Kulisse\, auf mehreren Ebenen und in unterschiedlichen Räumen ist genügend Platz für allerlei fechterische Freuden: Freies Fechten sowie technischer Austausch ist durchgehend möglich.
