DESCRIPTION:Ascalon Sword Festival is a premiere HEMA tournament\, featuring longsword\, which will be divided into Division 1\, 2 and 3\, Saber\, Rapier & Dagger\, and Marginalized Gender Longsword Tournament. \nRegistration is now OPEN. See below for event specific details. \nThe Open Longsword event will be split across 3 separate events – Divisions 1-3. The Top 8 finishers of all 3 divisions will receive medals. Fencers are free to register and place themselves as they choose\, but are expected to accurately place themselves using the descriptions below. The tournament staff reserves the right to shift fencers that staff believe are improperly placed. \nDivision 1 is recommended for fencers who regularly place in the top 25% of open events and/or have a rank of C or greater. \nDivision 2 is recommended for fencers that do not qualify for Div1 or Div3. Fencers who regularly finish in the top 25% of tournaments should apply for Division 1. Division 2 fencers may also choose to participate in Division 1. If you normally participate in an “Open” without getting into the table of 8\, this is the level for you. \nDivision 3 is recommended for those that are new to HEMA\, have difficulty winning bouts in their pool\, or fencers who do not normally progress past the first round of a DE. Division 3 fencers may also choose to participate in Division 2. \nThe Marginalized Gender event is open to trans and cis women\, trans men\, non-binary people\, intersex people\, and any other gender expansive people who are often underrepresented in HEMA. \nSaber and Rapier & Dagger will be run a standard open tournament\, all skill levels are welcome to participate. \nPlease see the rules for additional details. A full weekend event featuring distinguished fencing instructors\, prize tournaments\, vendors\, demonstrations and more in the beautiful Sierra Foothills. \nDiamond Rose Academie D’Armes proudly presents Rose and Thorns Historical Fencing Symposium\, held in Auburn\, California March 23 & 24th\, 2024.\nNorthern California has a high density of exceptionally talented practitioners of western martial arts\, and Rose and Thorns hopes to create an opportunity for that talent to be displayed and shared. This event offers an entire weekend of historical fencing tournaments and workshops for all experience levels\, as well as opportunity for spectation and introductory classes for anyone with a new interest in the art of the sword.\nThis event will be held in the heart of the Sierra Foothills at the beautiful Gold Country Fairgrounds. The 11\,000 sq ft. former National Guard venue known as ‘The Armory’ features athletic floors\, easy access\, and free parking. \nWhether you’re picking up a blade for the very first time\, or dueling your way to the top of one of our prize tournaments\, this event has a role for you.
