The tournament will be held either with Rapier or with the sidesword. As the two tournaments are simultaneous\, the applicants have to pick one or else enjoy an afternoon of free fencing.

Yet again we welcome you in the capital of Bulgaria in the first weekend of November.\nAs with the previous year\, we are working on bringing you both our core formats and something new.\nWe are going bigger yet again\, with 6 tournament categories in 2 days:\nOpen Longsword – 32 spots\nOpen Light Longsword – 20 spots\nLadies’ Longsword – 20 spots\nOpen Arming Sword – 24 spots\nOpen Sword&Buckler – 20 spots\nLadies’ Arming Sword – 20 spots\nFor the big Open Longsword tournament we will have the same format as before – each participant will get at least 7 matches and will have the privilege to judge just as many.\nAll other categories will be judged by a team of selected international referees.\nArming sword and Sword and buckler disciplines are with provided weapons\, the arming sword yet again being the SIGI Junior.\nAll participants can sign up for a Main discipline in the Open categories and add secondary ones as well. DESCRIPTION:A year has passed since we made fencers wet and hot inside of castle walls.\nSo it is time to announce Steel & Chill 2024. With Istria conquered we are moving east.\nWe can not promise neither rain nor sun\, but a weekend with lots of HEMA fun.\nIn Daruvar at count Janković castle\, in four categories you will battle. \nCategories. (participants)\n1. Longsword open (24)\n2. Sidesword (24)\n3. Sword & Buckler (24)\n4. Longsword women (12) \nMain category: 40 €\nLS Women 20 €\nSecondary category: 20 € \nAfterparty TBA \nWe have reserved accommodation for participants in a spa with a thermal pool 3 minutes from the castle. Prices have yet to be determined but will be announced before registrations. \nThe tournament will take place over two days\, with sidesword\, sword and buckler being on the first day\, while longsword will be on the second day.\nYou will be allowed to participate in more categories if there is space in other categories.\nPriority goes to fencers who selected the category in question as their primary category.\nRuleset and applications will be released soon. (ruleset is same as last years with minor changes)\nKeep in mind that it is safe to assume that the tournament will have tourists and visitors that will watch the matches.\nAlso\, since it’s an outside tournament we will be exposed to the elements. Rain is highly unlikely(this time we hope)\, but heat is probable.\nWe will make sure to be in the shade when possible and have lots of water on site. SUMMARY:Swords of the Renaissance (2023)
DESCRIPTION:This event is dedicated to the different styles and weapons of the Renaissance. This is intended to provide an overview and provide space for exchange and experimentation. There will be 4 – 6 workshops\, but also plenty of time for questions\, discussions\, exchanges and free fencing! The aim is to create an open space that reflects both the diversity of the historical martial arts between the 15th and 17th centuries and the diversity of today’s practitioners. \nA lunch buffet will be organized. In the evening we will go out for dinner close to the event location. If the weather is good\, the event will held outdoors and will be open to spectators. If it rains we move into the hall and stay among ourselves. There is no tournament or other kind of competitive scenario at this event. The common denominator is cooperative and friendly fencing environment. \nMasks\, neck protection and (light) gloves belong to the minimum to be able to safely participate in all workshops. A fencing jacket is also pleasant\, especially in thrust-oriented workshops.

SUMMARY:Teutonic Fecht 2023 - Honigberg
DESCRIPTION:HEMA tournaments aim to do many things\, but a key difference to other combat sports is our connection to history.\nThe Teutonic Fecht 2023\, held for the first time in Harman\, Romania\, will be a combination of both high level and intense historical fencing\, and an event full of passion for history – in a fortified historical church at the heart of Transylvania.\nThe HEMA event itself is part of a larger festival in the ethnic German village\, all centered around the Evangelical church built in 1240 and fortified in the 15th C. To celebrate the history of the town\, reenactors in armor\, on horseback\, archers will demonstrate their skills\, on top of numerous other activities.\nIn the 13th C the Hungarian king Andras II\, who controlled the region\, invited the Knights of the Teutonic order to construct fortresses and in return gave them lands. The Order brought German settlers into Transylvania and they found multiple towns and villages\, some populated by German speakers to this day. One of those is Honigberg\, or as the Romanians call it – Harman.\nTwo tournament disciplines will be offered\, a more typical longsword tournament and a special\, sudden-death sidesword tournaments with swords provided – with many guaranteed matches in both categories. Fully video-assisted judging will be used in the sudden death tournament.\nWith a weapon as middle-ground as sidesword\, rapierists\, sabreurs\, messer and arming sword people can easily take part and feel at home in a high-stakes tournament – and they don’t need to bring a sword!\nSave the weekend of 25th-27th of August and come fence in Harman\, Romania.

SUMMARY:Unicorn FightClub 2023
DESCRIPTION:Unicorn FightClub is a series of open tournaments held over three days in central Christchurch\, New Zealand. It has the format of an international HEMA competition while remaining accessible and friendly (as is the kiwi way). The first two days are held at a large indoor sports arena\, with the last day held at our dojo on the padded mats for the jacket wrestling (Ringen) tournaments\, as well as the non-scored events such as rondel dagger sparring.\nAs well as the medals (and prizes) for winning individual tournaments\, we also have prizes for UFC champion (or: Master of Arms)- the fencer with the best overall score over three events\, and the much coveted Technical Excellence award (as voted by their peer fencers from the various tournaments).

DESCRIPTION:This autumn you have a unique opportunity – to take part in the first ever Bulgarian HEMA tournament event\, Sofia CrossSwords 2022.\nWe have prepared for you two very special tournaments in two days – a familiar ruleset\, but unique formats and weapons.\nWe will begin with the classic Longsword competition on Saturday\, but with a twist – no matter your skill and luck\, you won’t go back home with just a couple of fights.
