For the weapon discipline Sword & Buckler\, we base our competition on the medieval manuscript I:33\, which describes monks teaching novices how to fence. The only person who manages to defeat these monks is the woman Walpurgis – therefore she lends her name to our HEMA event exclusively for women! \nWhy are we organising a Ladies’ Event? Although HEMA is founded on an inclusive spirit\, the sport is still male-dominated. This makes it especially important to actively work for gender equality and to create spaces where more women can feel comfortable\, develop their skills\, and dare to compete. That is why we organize the Walpurgis Ladies’ Tournament: a full-weekend event combining competitions\, workshops\, a lecture\, shared dinner and accommodation to strengthen our community and inspire more women to engage in the sport. \nWhat are our plans moving forward? Our ambition is to build an annual tradition that grows over time – in number of participants as well as geographical reach. We at MHFS\, who take pride in our inclusive atmosphere\, believe we are well suited to ensure that this event becomes a place where women feel empowered and genuinely welcome. \nWho is this event for? Walpurgis Ladies’ Tournament is an event aimed at providing women with a safe and fair competitive environment within HEMA. Our ambition is to create an inclusive event where women can participate on their own terms. The event is open to fencers who are legally registered as female and who are 18 years of age or older. The competition classes are designed in accordance with the guidelines of the Swedish Sports Confederation (Riksidrottsförbundet) regarding safe\, fair\, and inclusive sport. Participants are therefore required to bring valid identification (passport\, national ID card\, or driver’s license). Swedish participants must also be members of a club affiliated with the Swedish HEMA Federation and hold a valid digital Competition License.

DESCRIPTION:The Sofia CrossSwords team is proud to present Sofia Longsword Open 2026 – a full day dedicated entirely to longsword fencing\, featuring three tournaments.\nThe following day will once again be open for free sparring for everyone who decides to stay longer. \nOpen Longsword\nThe Open division will be separated into two tiers – Tier A and Tier B\nThe division will be determined after registrations close. Higher-rated fencers (according to HEMA Ratings) will be placed in Tier A\, with the remaining competitors in Tier B. \nLadies Longsword\nNo limit on the number of competitors. If registrations allow\, the division may also be separated into Tier A and Tier B.\nAll categories will be judged and scored by our local team together with guest judges. \nRules\nThe full ruleset can be found on sofiaxswords.com/rules. The basic scoring system is:\n– 2 points for any clean hit.\n– 1 point for the first hit followed by an afterblow.\n– 0 points for any double hit.\n– No afterblow after a head hit.\n– Hit quality is required. Unopposed flats are allowed only to the head; all other targets require edge alignment.\nVideo-Assisted Review (VAR) will be available at every stage of the tournament\, including pools and eliminations. \nEquipment\nFull protective gear is required. DESCRIPTION:Einherjar Cup 2026 is an international HEMA tournament held in Hong Kong\, organized by Einherjar HEMA Club since 2022. It is now one of the most popular HEMA event across East Asia and South-East Asia. DESCRIPTION:MONOMACHIA KARLBRUDËR 2027 \nOn January 17\, 2027\, Karlbrüder will celebrate its 11th anniversary with the first edition of Monomachia Karlbrudër\, a Historical European Martial Arts tournament dedicated to Longsword. \nThe competition will be submitted to HEMA Ratings and conducted through successive rounds. After each stage\, a percentage of the remaining competitors will be eliminated according to their accumulated results\, with the official tie-breaking criteria applied whenever necessary. \nAt the end of the tournament\, an overall ranking will be established based on each competitor’s performance. From these standings\, several distinctions will be awarded\, including: \nOpen Champion;\nBest Beginner;\nBest Female Competitor;\nAdditional performance-based categories. \nAll recognized categories will receive prizes. \nMonomachia Karlbrudër 2027 will bring together fencers of different experience levels in a technical\, demanding\, and inclusive competition\, celebrating individual achievement and eleven years of Karlbrüder’s dedication to historical fencing. \nPer Dolorem\, Doctrina.
