Be sure to check out the rules and explanatory videos on the IF CCSC page.\nThis tournament is also a great opportunity for our volunteer directors to gain experience judging real bouts while keeping the atmosphere friendly and open. We are also open to including directors and side judges from clubs with the participation of over 3 fencers. DESCRIPTION:Sofia CrossSwords team is presenting the first dedicated “Sofia Longsword Open” event. It will be a day focused entirely on Longsword with three competitions. The following day will be open for free sparring for anyone deciding to stay more. \nOpen Longsword with 48 people separated in two tiers:\n– Tier A – 16 fencers\n– Tier B – 32 fencers\nThe separation will be made according to the sign ups. The higher rated fencers (according to Hemaratings) will be placed in tier A\, the rest in tier B.\nLadies Longsword with no limit on the number of fencers. If enough fencers sign up a Tier separation is possible.\nAll categories will be judged and scored by our local team and guest judges. \nFull ruleset is posted on the website. Basic scoring is:\n– 2 points for any clean hit\n– 1 point for the first hit followed by an “afterblow”\n– 0 points for any double hit\n– No afterblow after head hit\n– Hit quality required\, unopposed flats allowed to the head\, edge required on all other targets\n– First to 12 points in pools wins; first to 15 points in elimination wins \nFull gear required. Full is posted on the website. Longswords allowed:\n1. Total length- from 105 to 135 cm.\n2. Weight- from 1300 – 1650 gr. (1200 – 1650 gr. for Ladies Longsword)\n3. Blade length- from 85 to 104 cm.\n4. Crossguard width- from 20 to 30 cm. (rings are not allowed)\n5. Grip length\, including pommel – from 20 to 35 cm.\n6.
