Tournament: Oct 4
Workshop: Oct 5
Tournament includes open longsword, random mixed weapons, rapier, and women’s longsword
Workshop taught by Phil Swift:
“Two Masters, Two Paths: Exploring Divergent Fencing Traditions”
Take a deep dive into two worlds of swordplay. In this unique class, we’ll explore and compare the tactical decision-making of two historical fencing masters from different countries and eras: Francesco Lorenz de Rada (Spain, 1705) and Nicoletto Giganti (Italy, 1606).
Through guided drills and discussion, we’ll unpack the distinct decision trees each master presents — analyzing how their approaches to timing, distance, and initiative reflect their cultural and martial priorities.
